• Lee Si Young’s old comments about her husband not understanding her resurface after divorce news

Actress Lee Si Young's past remarks about her husband are making waves again after news of their divorce broke out.

On March 17, her agency Ace Factory confirmed to Xports News that Lee Si Young and her husband Jo Seung Hyun have decided to part ways. The two have already started legal proceedings for their divorce after eight years of marriage.

Lee Si Young tied the knot with restaurant entrepreneur Jo Seung Hyun in August 2017 and later welcomed their son, Jung Yoon, in January 2018. While they seemed like a happy family, things have now taken a different turn.

Following the shocking news, netizens have been revisiting Lee Si Young’s past comments about her husband from a 2021 episode of MBC’s variety show The Manager.

At that time, Lee Si Young shared that she used to go on early morning runs with singer Sean and former soccer players Lee Young Pyo and Jo Won Hee.

During the show, Lee Young Ja asked her, "Doesn't your passion for working out cause trouble with your husband?"

Lee Si Young responded, "My ideal type was always someone who could work out with me. Isn't that great?"

However, she then surprised everyone by revealing, "Before we got married, my husband used to run with me every morning. Even at 4 AM, he would come out and run with me. But after we got married, he never ran with me again and said, ‘I just don’t understand you.’”

Her story made the cast burst into laughter, and Jun Hyun Moo joked, "His goal was marriage." Comedian Yang Se Hyung added, "For him, that was just training."

Lee Si Young also shared a funny story about her husband and their son, Jung Yoon.

"My husband plays with Jung Yoon in his own way, but they fight a lot. He gets sulky. For example, when my husband says, ‘Jung Yoon, this looks delicious. Can Daddy have one?’ and then eats it, Jung Yoon gets mad and says, ‘Why did you eat mine?’ Then my husband goes, ‘I bought this with my money.’"

She continued, "Then Jung Yoon insists, ‘No, Mommy bought it!’ and my husband replies, ‘Mommy bought it, but with Daddy’s money. Actually, even this toy was bought by Daddy.’ At that point, I just tell him to stop."

Her playful family stories made everyone laugh at the time, but now, many netizens are looking back at her words in a new light. Some commented, "Did she already feel disconnected from him back then?" while others said, "Marriage really changes people."

As Lee Si Young and Jo Seung Hyun go through their divorce, many are curious about what led to their decision.

On the May 1st episode of KBS 2TV’s variety show Problem Child in House, Lee Jun Young appeared alongside co-star Jung Eun Ji to promote their new KBS drama Pump Up the Healthy Love.

During the show, Lee Jun Young was asked about the most unforgettable villain he’s played. He chose his role as Han Su Gang in the film Brave Citizen.

He explained, “It was really tough to film. I had to act like I was leading school violence, and there was even a scene where I bullied a grandmother.”

The hosts were surprised, pointing out how kind and gentle he seems in real life. Lee Jun Young shared how he transforms for such roles.

“I try to act as bad as I can, but sometimes the director says, ‘You still look too nice.’ Then I focus even harder and adjust right away.”

He also revealed that filming one particular scene hit him hard emotionally. “My real grandmother was sick at the time,” he said.

“In one scene, there’s a grandma selling gimbap, and I ad-libbed by stubbing a cigarette out on the gimbap. I was really into character, but after filming, I just broke down. So many thoughts came to me and I started crying.”
