SBS has responded to growing interest in a possible second season of “Agent Kim Reactivated” after the drama became one of the network’s biggest Friday Saturday hits.
On July 6, an SBS representative addressed the season 2 discussions and said, “No official discussions are taking place yet”.
However, the representative added, “Since it is a drama that can fully continue as a seasonal series, it seems viewers’ expectations are gathering”.
The response comes as “Agent Kim Reactivated” continues to show strong ratings growth. According to Nielsen Korea, the drama started with 9.5% nationwide ratings on June 26 and quickly rose with each new episode. By episode 4, it recorded 21.6%, passing the difficult 20% mark in just 4 episodes.
With this record, “Agent Kim Reactivated” became the No. 3 highest rated SBS Friday Saturday drama of all time based on nationwide ratings. It now follows “The Penthouse 2”, which recorded 29.2%, and “The Fiery Priest”, which recorded 22%.
The drama’s success is drawing more attention because it is performing strongly even in a market where many viewers now watch shows through OTT platforms. However, since “Agent Kim Reactivated” is planned as a shorter 10 episode series, many viewers are already asking for more.
Lead actor So Ji Sub also previously shared that he hopes the drama can continue as a seasonal series. During SBS drama media day “SBS DRAMA: NEXT EPISODE” on June 1, he said, “Honestly, I do not have much desire for awards. I think I would feel happy if it continues as a seasonal series.”
Although season 2 has not been officially confirmed, the drama’s rising ratings, strong viewer interest, and So Ji Sub’s support are making fans hopeful that “Agent Kim Reactivated” may return with another season.
