Yoon Si Yoon surprised viewers by revealing that he was almost removed from the lead role in “Bread, Love and Dreams” one of Korea’s biggest hit dramas.

On the July 1 episode of MBC’s “Radio Star,” Yoon Si Yoon appeared with Ryu Soo Young, Choi Jin Hyuk, and B1A4’s Sandeul. During the episode, he talked about the casting story behind KBS2’s “Baker King Kim Tak Goo,” which later recorded a peak rating of 49.3%.

Yoon Si Yoon shared that many people were against him taking the lead role because he had just debuted through “High Kick Through the Roof!” and had not yet proven himself in a serious drama.

He said, “After debuting through ‘High Kick,’ I was considered for my first lead role in a serious drama, but there was a lot of opposition around me.” He then added, “In the end, the director and writer were planning to replace me.”

According to Yoon Si Yoon, the meeting was originally meant to tell him that he would not be cast. However, things changed after he showed how hard he had prepared.

He recalled, “Thinking about it now, anyone could see it was a meeting where they were going to say sorry.” He added, “But I was clueless and showed them how hard I had prepared.”

Yoon Si Yoon explained that the drama had many sad moments, but the main character had a bright and determined energy. After seeing his effort, the director reportedly changed his mind and said, “Let’s trust him and try it once.”

Even after getting the role, Yoon Si Yoon said filming was not easy at first. He struggled with emotional scenes and admitted, “At the beginning of filming, crying scenes were hard for me, and I could not cry for 1 or 2 hours.”

He shared that Park Sung Woong helped him during filming by acting out the mother’s role for him, which helped him finally understand the emotion needed for the scene.

Yoon Si Yoon also looked back on his debut in “High Kick Through the Roof!” and said, “When I first heard that I passed the audition, my mother and I lay on the floor and cried.”

He expressed gratitude to the senior actors and young cast members who helped him during his early acting days, saying their support allowed him to grow as an actor.
