The Chilean government is reviewing whether to approve the use of Santiago’s National Stadium for BTS’s upcoming world tour concert after strong reactions from fans.
The issue began when Chile’s National Sports Institute reportedly refused to approve the stadium rental for the BTS concert scheduled in October. Officials cited concerns that a 360 degree center stage setup could damage the stadium grass and make it difficult to restore.
The situation drew more attention because tickets for the concert had already been sold and were fully sold out. The Chilean government also pointed out that the local organizer sold tickets before receiving final approval to use the venue.
After the decision, BTS fans took to the streets to oppose the possible cancellation and asked the government to allow the concert to take place.
On July 5 local time, Chile’s Ministry of Sports released a statement saying the possibility of holding the concert is still open. The government explained, “We received additional technical documents from the organizer about a new installation plan for the venue,” adding that “This new proposal has been adjusted in a way that meets current regulations.”
The revised plan reportedly includes details about grass protection and construction methods. The government will now review whether the new proposal follows the required rules.
The Ministry of Sports also stated, “The actual fulfillment of these conditions, and the organizer’s official promise to follow them, will be essential requirements for approving the concert at the National Stadium.”
It added that Chile is willing to host a global scale event as long as laws and facility protection rules are followed. However, the ministry also said the organizer may face a fine for selling tickets before receiving the necessary approval.
For now, BTS’s concert in Chile has not been officially canceled, and fans are watching closely to see whether the stadium use will be approved.
