• Song Hye Kyo Says She Practiced Smoking for 6 Months to Get Her Role Right in 'Dark Nuns'

    Song Hye Kyo opened up about the intense preparation she went through for her role in the upcoming film Dark Nuns.

    At a press screening for the movie held on January 20th at Megabox Coex in Gangnam, Seoul, the actress shared her personal journey of learning to smoke for the role of Sister Unia. T

    Dark Nuns is a gripping story about a forbidden ritual to save a young boy possessed by a dangerous evil spirit, and Song Hye Kyo’s character is determined to do whatever it takes to save him.

    On the day of the screening, the actress admitted she was nervous but excited about the film. She said, “I’m so nervous. It was a movie I worked hard on, so I hope there will be a good reaction."

    However, it wasn’t just the complex storyline that had Song Hye Kyo worried. It was also her character’s smoking habit, something the actress had never done before.

    She explained, “It was my first time acting while smoking. I had a lot of concerns. Since I'm a non-smoker, I wondered how I should handle it, but when I thought about the character of Sister Unia, it was a necessary part.”

    In an effort to make her portrayal as realistic as possible, Song Hye Kyo revealed, “I practiced smoking for six months before filming. The first scene starts with smoking, and it’s a big close-up, so I didn’t want to fake it. During the filming, I practiced acting a lot, but I also practiced smoking a lot.”

    Fans are eagerly anticipating Dark Nuns, which will hit theaters on January 24th.

    On the May 1st episode of KBS 2TV’s variety show Problem Child in House, Lee Jun Young appeared alongside co-star Jung Eun Ji to promote their new KBS drama Pump Up the Healthy Love.

    During the show, Lee Jun Young was asked about the most unforgettable villain he’s played. He chose his role as Han Su Gang in the film Brave Citizen.

    He explained, “It was really tough to film. I had to act like I was leading school violence, and there was even a scene where I bullied a grandmother.”

    The hosts were surprised, pointing out how kind and gentle he seems in real life. Lee Jun Young shared how he transforms for such roles.

    “I try to act as bad as I can, but sometimes the director says, ‘You still look too nice.’ Then I focus even harder and adjust right away.”

    He also revealed that filming one particular scene hit him hard emotionally. “My real grandmother was sick at the time,” he said.

    “In one scene, there’s a grandma selling gimbap, and I ad-libbed by stubbing a cigarette out on the gimbap. I was really into character, but after filming, I just broke down. So many thoughts came to me and I started crying.”

    Fans praised his dedication to acting but also felt moved by how deeply the role affected him. Lee Jun Young’s honesty gave a raw look at how even fictional roles can hit close to home.
