Moon Ga Young opened up about how she chooses her acting projects, revealing that despite considering many factors, she ultimately trusts her instincts the most.
The actress recently appeared in a video on W Korea’s YouTube channel, where she answered questions while drawing and reflected on her 20-year acting career.
When asked which project became the biggest turning point for her, Moon Ga Young chose True Beauty.
She said, “Every project taught me something and remains memorable, but True Beauty received so much love and was also greatly loved overseas. I think it became a turning point for me.”
Moon Ga Young then shared the most important factor she considers when deciding whether to accept a new role.
Without hesitation, she answered, “Intuition.”
She explained that there are several things she normally looks for in a script, including what the character wants to say, the message of the overall story, and whether there is something meaningful she can personally deliver through the role.
However, she said the final decision often comes down to the feeling she gets immediately after reading a script.
“There are certain things that have to be satisfied, like what the character is trying to say, what the project wants to say, and what I need to communicate,” she explained.
Moon Ga Young added, “But honestly, there are times when I feel it immediately as soon as I read the script. I tend to trust my intuition.”
Her comments showed that while meaningful stories remain important to her, a strong first impression from a script can sometimes be the deciding factor when choosing her next project.
