MBC’s A Bona Fide Killer delivered a major turning point as Jung Joon Won’s character began connecting his wife, played by Gong Hyo Jin, to a mysterious incident from eight years ago.
According to Nielsen Korea, the September 4 episode recorded a nationwide rating of 8.6% and 8.3% in the Seoul metropolitan area, keeping the drama at No. 1 among Friday-Saturday dramas.
The episode’s most closely watched moments pushed ratings even higher, reaching a peak of 12.4%.
One of those scenes came when Kwon Tae Sung, played by Jung Joon Won, heard the voice of the person who called emergency services and helped save him eight years earlier. The discovery pointed him toward the possibility that the person was his wife, Yoo Bo Na, played by Gong Hyo Jin.
Earlier, Tae Sung had already found another suspicious connection. He discovered a message from an anonymous supporter that read, “I hope you find your own beautiful scenery.”
The words immediately caught his attention because they matched something he remembered saying to Yoo Bo Na during an incident eight years ago.
As Tae Sung continued investigating the mystery surrounding the figure known as Kingfisher, evidence increasingly made him question whether his wife could somehow be connected to the case.
Meanwhile, Yoo Bo Na faced a separate situation involving a man with a reported history of child abuse. Seeing a child in danger brought back painful memories from her own time at an orphanage.
Unable to hold back her anger, Yoo Bo Na rushed forward and struck the man, creating another intense moment that contributed to the episode’s 12.4% peak rating.
The ending brought the two mysteries together as Tae Sung recognized the voice connected to his rescue eight years earlier and realized it could belong to Yoo Bo Na.
His shocked reaction suggested that the truth about his wife and the mysterious Kingfisher is getting increasingly difficult to ignore.
