Girls’ Generation’s Hyoyeon shared a funny story from one of her early experiences visiting a club overseas, including an unexpected encounter with a French man who reportedly showed interest in her.
On the September 5 episode of MBC’s The Manager, Hyoyeon spent time with people who have worked closely with her for years, including her longtime makeup artist and manager.
During their conversation, her makeup artist brought up a trip from 2016, when Hyoyeon traveled overseas for a photo shoot and visited a club.
Hyoyeon laughed as she remembered how differently she had prepared compared to the other guests.
“That was my first time going to a club overseas. We looked so out of place,” she recalled. “Everyone else was dressed casually, but we had our hair and makeup completely done and went there wearing dresses.”
Old footage from the trip showed Hyoyeon dressed in a black mini dress for the night out.
Her makeup artist then recalled that Hyoyeon and her companion were having such a good time that they did not want the night to end, so the group later headed to a beach club.
According to the makeup artist, a French man noticed Hyoyeon while they were there and approached her.
“There was this incredibly handsome French guy who saw Hyoyeon, looked completely interested, and swam over to her,” the makeup artist recalled, adding with a laugh that Hyoyeon became even less interested in going home afterward.
Hyoyeon also looked back on her first experiences visiting clubs in Korea. She said going to one after turning 20 had been on her bucket list, so she went with fellow Girls’ Generation members.
She added that her mother waited outside until around 5 a.m. while they were inside, revealing that the club they visited at the time was Harlem in Gangnam.
The lighthearted story gave viewers a glimpse into Hyoyeon’s younger days, with her longtime staff sharing amusing memories from her nights out before she became more familiar with club culture.
