‘The King's Warden’ is continuing its incredible box office run, as the historical film has now officially passed 15 million moviegoers and climbed even higher on Korea’s all time ticket sales chart.

According to distributor Showbox on March 25, ‘The King's Warden’ surpassed 15 million admissions that afternoon, reaching the milestone just 50 days after release.

The achievement is especially major because the film has now become only the third movie in Korean box office history to ever cross the 15 million viewer mark, further proving just how massive its theatrical run has become.

The momentum has been building quickly over the past several days. After already passing 14 million viewers in 45 days on March 20, the film continued adding audiences at a rapid pace and then moved past two major box office giants: ‘Ode to My Father’ with 14.25 million admissions and ‘Along With the Gods: The Two Worlds’ with 14.41 million admissions.

With that, ‘The King's Warden’ has now officially risen to No. 3 on Korea’s all time box office rankings, making it one of the biggest theatrical hits the country has ever seen.

The film is now chasing the next two historic benchmarks. The current No. 2 film is ‘Extreme Job’ with approximately 16.26 million admissions, while ‘The Admiral: Roaring Currents’ remains the all time No. 1 with around 17.61 million admissions.

Set in 1457 in Cheongnyeongpo, ‘The King's Warden’ tells the story of a village leader who chooses exile for the sake of his village’s future and a young former king who has been sent away after losing the throne.

With 15 million viewers in just 50 days, a new place at No. 3 all time, and still more room to climb, ‘The King's Warden’ is continuing one of the most impressive box office runs seen in Korea in years.
