The weekend drama scene has become a fierce battleground, and right now, only YoonA and Lee Chae Min are smiling thanks to the huge success of Bon Appétit, Your Majesty.
According to Nielsen Korea, the September 21 broadcast of tvN’s Saturday-Sunday drama Bon Appétit, Your Majesty episode 10 recorded nationwide ratings of 15.8% and peaked at 17.3% on paid platforms. This not only ranked No.1 across all channels during its timeslot but also set the show’s highest ratings yet.
The numbers jumped 2.3% from episode 9’s 13.5%, showing the drama’s unstoppable momentum. With only two episodes left, fans are already watching closely to see if it can break past the 20% milestone before the finale.
The hit series has even outshined KBS 2TV’s long-running powerhouse weekend dramas. Glorious Days managed 13.9% and 15.8% ratings, but the gap proves just how strong tvN’s series has become.
Not even Lee Young Ae’s highly anticipated return could slow it down. KBS 2TV’s new miniseries Walking On Thin Ice, starring Lee Young Ae and Kim Young Kwang, started off with 3.7% for its premiere and 3.4% for its second episode.
While this was slightly higher than Ma Dong Seok’s Twelve finale at 2.4%, the results were far below expectations considering Lee Young Ae’s name value.
Twelve had shocked everyone with 8.1% ratings in its first episode, making the lukewarm start of Walking On Thin Ice even more disappointing.
Go Hyun Jung’s SBS drama Queen Mantis also saw its buzz fade. After peaking at 7.5% in episode 4, the ratings fell to 6.6% and then 6.0% in later episodes. Especially on Saturdays when it overlapped with Bon Appétit, Your Majesty, it hit its lowest point yet.
JTBC’s Friday series My Youth, starring Song Joong Ki and Chun Woo Hee, is still struggling, staying in the 2% range. After dipping to 1.9% in episode 5, it only slightly recovered to 2.2% in episode 6.
Meanwhile, TV Chosun’s Confidence Queen, Park Min Young’s comeback drama, made a bold timeslot change to 10:30 p.m. and finally escaped the 0% range, scoring 1.571% with its sixth episode. Still, it has a long way to go.
JTBC’s A Hundred Memories, which followed Esquire, is seeing positive growth. Episode 4 climbed to 4.931%, marking its best ratings yet.
As Bon Appétit, Your Majesty charges toward the finale, other dramas are showing mixed fortunes, some soaring and others struggling to stay afloat.
Fans are now curious to see what final record the drama will leave behind, and how the weekend drama scene will shift once it ends. Its follow-up drama, Typhoon Family starring Lee Jun Ho and Kim Min Ha, is set to take over the slot.
