Jin Ki Joo is receiving growing support from viewers after some online comments questioned her acting in Netflix’s “Teach You a Lesson”.
The series is currently gaining strong global attention. According to FlixPatrol, “Teach You a Lesson” ranked No. 2 worldwide in Netflix’s TV show category as of June 10.
In the drama, Jin Ki Joo plays Im Han Rim, the only female member of the fictional Teachers’ Rights Protection Bureau. The series follows the bureau as it works to restore order in troubled classrooms.
After the show was released, some viewers shared mixed opinions about Jin Ki Joo’s performance. A few said her transition between a student teacher image and a strong action character felt awkward. Others also had divided reactions to scenes where she raised her voice or showed intense emotions.
However, the mood changed after her preparation for the role became known. In content released through Netflix Korea’s official channel on June 10, Lee Sung Min said, “I know Jin Ki Joo separately studied the way female instructors speak.” Kim Mu Yeol also shared, “I heard she even went to an expert and practiced vocal training for the role.”
Many viewers are now defending Jin Ki Joo, saying the criticism does not fully understand the character. In the original work, Im Han Rim is not only a serious and justice driven person. She also has a bold, quirky, and warm side, making her one of the more unique characters in the story.
Netizens left supportive comments such as, “Among female actresses, she fits the character the best,” “She is doing so well, so I do not understand why people call it bad acting,” and “She handles the action well and matches Im Han Rim closely.”
Others added, “I am watching it with a smile because of Jin Ki Joo,” “I discovered a new charm of the actress through this work,” and “It feels like she met the character of her life.”
One viewer also defended her interpretation of the role, saying, “Im Han Rim is not only a serious character, but also has a cheerful and quirky side. She is showing that charm well, so I do not understand why it is a problem.”
Despite the mixed reactions, “Teach You a Lesson” continues to perform strongly on Netflix, proving its growing interest among global viewers.
