Jung Eun Chae is making a strong impression after joining SBS’s Flex X Cop 2 as its new female lead.
The actress plays Joo Hye Ra, a former elite member of the National Police Agency’s counterterrorism team who now leads Violent Crimes Team 1 at Gangha Police Station.
Her casting drew attention before the second season premiered because Park Ji Hyun, who starred as the female lead in the first season, did not return. With Ahn Bo Hyun, Kang Sang Jun, Kim Shin Bi, and other familiar cast members coming back, some viewers were curious about how Jung Eun Chae would fit into the established team.
However, Jung Eun Chae quickly gave Joo Hye Ra her own identity instead of trying to recreate the dynamic from the first season.
Her character has developed an entertaining relationship with Ahn Bo Hyun’s Jin Yi Soo. The two often disagree and compete for control, but their different strengths also make them effective partners during investigations.
Jin Yi Soo tends to use his money, connections, and unconventional ideas, while Joo Hye Ra relies on sharp judgment, experience, and persistent detective work. Their contrasting styles have become one of the main attractions of the new season.
Jung Eun Chae has also brought emotional depth to the role. Joo Hye Ra is not simply presented as a confident team leader, as the drama gradually shows the responsibility and personal emotions that drive her work.
The role adds another different character to Jung Eun Chae’s career. She previously showed contrasting sides of herself in projects such as Anna, Pachinko, and Jeongnyeon: The Star Is Born.
Rather than feeling like a direct replacement for the previous female lead, Jung Eun Chae has created a distinct presence in Flex X Cop 2, with her chemistry with the returning cast and her interpretation of Joo Hye Ra becoming key points of the new season.
