Jeon Wook Min, the younger brother of actress Jeon So Min, has opened up about the painful side of relationships, revealing that some people he once considered close became distant after he refused requests to connect them with his famous sister.
On September 9, Jeon Wook Min shared a short video on social media reflecting on how his views about friendship and personal connections have changed over the years.
He explained that he once believed maintaining relationships and building connections were important in life, even when doing so required him to make personal sacrifices.
“Adults used to say that school ties, regional connections, and family connections could be a big help in life. So I naturally tried to meet people and maintain relationships, even when I sometimes had to make sacrifices,” he said.
He admitted that being surrounded by people who appeared successful also made him feel better about himself.
However, after experiencing difficulties with his business and reaching the age of 38, Jeon Wook Min said he began seeing those relationships differently.
“Now that my business has failed and I'm 38, there are almost no people left by my side,” he shared.
Looking back, he wondered whether some people had stayed close to him partly because of his background and his connection to Jeon So Min.
“Even people I thought I was close with often ended up asking me to connect them with my sister or help them with work,” he revealed.
He said the most difficult part was watching some of those relationships fade after he turned down their requests.
“When I refused, we naturally became distant,” he said.
Despite the disappointment, Jeon Wook Min did not blame those people entirely. Instead, he acknowledged that he had also formed relationships with certain expectations in the past.
“I don't think those people were necessarily wrong. Looking back, I was like that too,” he added.
Jeon Wook Min is currently pursuing his dream of becoming an actor. He previously appeared on a family special of SBS's Running Man, the official English title used by SBS for the long running variety show.
He also competed as part of the muscle team on the 2022 Channel A and Channel S ssireum survival program The Strongest Men (*Cheonhajeiljangsa*). Channel A records confirm Jeon Wook Min's participation in the original 2022 season, while The Strongest Men is the English naming used internationally for the franchise.
His candid comments offered a personal look at how being related to a celebrity can complicate relationships, especially when people begin asking for introductions or professional favors and disappear after hearing no.
