IU has revealed the deeply personal meaning behind her new song Dear my crazy soulmate, dedicating the track to her longtime close friend Yoo In Na.
On September 10, IU released her new digital single Unknown Planet, which features the double title tracks Unknown Planet and Dear my crazy soulmate. The latter was written by IU and arrived together with its music video. The English titles Unknown Planet and Dear my crazy soulmate are being used for the international release.
One small detail in the official album information made the song particularly meaningful. Beneath Dear my crazy soulmate, the dedication simply reads, “To Yoo In Na.”
The song centers on accepting a close friend completely, including the unusual sides of their personality. One of its most touching messages is, “You can be weird forever when you’re with me.”
The music video reflects that theme through a warm story about longtime friendship. Veteran actresses Kim Young Ok and Na Moon Hee portray two close friends who find a way to spend time together despite circumstances keeping them apart. IU also appears as a police officer alongside actress Shim Dal Gi.

Without revealing too much of the story, the video focuses on loyalty, comfort, and the kind of friendship where two people can simply be themselves around each other.

IU and Yoo In Na’s friendship goes back many years. The two first became close after appearing together on the SBS variety show Heroes, the internationally used English title for 영웅호걸, which aired from 2010 to 2011. SBS’s English-language coverage has also referred to the program as Heroes.
Their friendship has remained well known among fans ever since, with both stars publicly showing support for each other over the years.
By adding the simple dedication “To Yoo In Na,” IU made Dear my crazy soulmate more than just a song about friendship, turning it into a personal tribute to one of the closest relationships in her life.
