Netflix’s new Korean series “Teach You a Lesson” is gaining strong attention around the world.

According to OTT ranking service FlixPatrol on June 8, “Teach You a Lesson” ranked No. 3 globally in Netflix’s TV show category on June 7. The series climbed two spots after placing No. 5 on June 6.

The show also reached No. 1 in 25 countries, including South Korea, Bolivia, Hong Kong, India, Oman, Peru, Singapore, Thailand, and Taiwan.

“Teach You a Lesson” follows the Teacher Rights Protection Bureau, a fictional group created to protect schools and help victims when students, teachers, or parents cross the line.

The series stars Kim Mu Yeol, Lee Sung Min, Jin Ki Joo, and Pyo Ji Hoon, with each episode focusing on a different case.

The drama is based on a webtoon of the same name. Before its release, some viewers were concerned because the original work had faced criticism over issues involving corporal punishment, sexism, and racism.

Director Hong Jong Chan addressed the concerns, saying, “I fully understand the concerns about the original work, and we tried to carefully make a good story from a refined point of view.”

He also explained why the production still chose to adapt the webtoon, saying, “The fantasy setting of the Teacher Rights Protection Bureau in the original work was the most attractive part.”

He added that the appeal came from how the agency “solves problems without hesitation,” stands with victims, and supports them.

With new storylines and strong word of mouth, “Teach You a Lesson” is now becoming one of Netflix’s biggest Korean series of the moment.
