Netflix is going all in on K-Pop Demon Hunters!
According to U.S. media outlet The Wrap on July 31, Netflix is currently in talks to expand K-Pop Demon Hunters into a massive global franchise—something on the scale of Disney’s Frozen. And yes, that includes a live-action remake, sequels, and even a possible stage musical!
Insiders revealed that Netflix is planning two sequels to turn the hit animated film into a full trilogy. The company is also reportedly considering a live-action version of the movie, along with a musical adaptation for the stage.
While K-Pop Demon Hunters won’t have a traditional box office run since it’s a Netflix exclusive, the streaming giant still believes it can build a powerful multimedia franchise. Think spin-offs, official merch, and a whole universe of stories.

The hype is real. Just this week, Netflix officially confirmed that K-Pop Demon Hunters has become its most-watched animated film of all time.
In just six weeks since its release on June 20, the movie has racked up 132.4 million views around the world. According to Netflix’s site Tudum, that’s over 202.8 million total viewing hours!
In an earlier interview with Screen Rant, co-director Maggie Kang shared that the team already has ideas for a sequel.

“There are always side stories, and there are things we came up with while making the first film,” she said. “A lot of questions were answered, but not completely. I think there are still many areas we can explore.”
K-Pop Demon Hunters isn’t just dominating on-screen—it’s also making waves in the music world. The film’s song Golden by Huntrix skyrocketed to No. 2 on Billboard’s Hot 100, while eight different songs from the OST charted for three straight weeks.
While the sequels may take a few years to come out, Netflix is already working on ways to keep fans hooked. Plans include short animated episodes, new merch drops, and more music releases coming soon.
Looks like K-Pop Demon Hunters is just getting started!
