Actor Lee Joon Hyuk has surprised fans after it was revealed that he is a direct descendant of Hyo Ryeong Daegun, a prince from the Joseon dynasty.
On February 15, director Jang Hang Joon and actors Yoo Hae Jin, Park Ji Hoon, Lee Joon Hyuk, Jeon Mi Do, and Kim Min attended stage greetings at multiple movie theaters in Seoul for their new film Wang Gwa Saneun Namja (The Man Living with the King).
During the event, director Jang Hang Joon shared, “There’s one thing I want to tell you. Lee Joon Hyuk, who plays Geum Seong Daegun, is actually royalty.”

He added, “He belongs to the Jeonju Lee clan and is a direct descendant of Hyo Ryeong Daegun, the older brother of King Sejong. Please don’t forget that he is actual royal family,” leaving the audience surprised.
The news quickly spread online, with netizens commenting, “He’s real royalty, 100% in sync with the role,” “Could anything be more perfectly cast?” and “No wonder he has such noble vibes.”
Wang Gwa Saneun Namja is set in 1457 Cheongryeongpo and follows a village chief who voluntarily goes into exile to help his village grow and the young former king who was exiled from the throne.
Fans are now even more excited to see Lee Joon Hyuk bring his historical role to life, given his real-life royal lineage.
