• "The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call" Season 2 and 3 is Already in the Works? Original Writer Praises Ju Ji Hoon and Choo Young Woo's Crazy Chemistry

Fans of The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call have something to look forward to!

The original writer of the hit medical drama recently shared that the drama was made with Season 2 and 3 in mind while also praising the incredible chemistry between Ju Ji Hoon and Choo Young Woo.

Writer Lee Nak Jun appeared on the YouTube channel Dr. Friends and revealed that he never imagined his story would become such a huge success.

“When I first said in 2019 that I wanted my novel to become a webtoon and drama, nothing happened. But then the rights were sold, and after a long wait, we finally started filming in 2023”, he shared.

Lee also hinted at more seasons, saying, “If the drama does well, Season 2 will follow. Since Season 1 didn’t cover everything, a lot of people who are curious about the next part will probably check out my webtoon or web novel. The drama was made with Seasons 2 and 3 in mind.”

Released on January 24, The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call follows Baek Kang Hyuk (played by Ju Ji Hoon), a genius surgeon with ‘God’s Hand’ abilities, as he joins a struggling trauma team to revive it. Choo Young Woo plays Yang Jae Won, an elite fellow who becomes mesmerized by Baek Kang Hyuk’s extraordinary skills.

Lee Nak Jun shared a fun behind-the-scenes story about an intense helicopter scene. “The director was really worried. In reality, there’s no doctor in Korea who can rappel from a helicopter, let alone carry someone on their shoulders while doing it. But this is a medical fantasy, so we made it work,” he laughed.

The writer also admitted that even the medical consultant thought Baek Kang Hyuk’s abilities were too overpowered.

“He knows everything before tests are even done. He’s basically superhuman. He’s also 188cm tall, and coincidentally, Ju Ji Hoon is also 188cm. It was meant to be”, he said proudly.

With the drama’s growing success, it looks like fans won’t have to wait too long for Season 2 and 3!

  • Lee Jun Young says he felt guilty and cried after acting mean to a grandma in 'Brave Citizen'

Lee Jun Young recently opened up about the emotional toll of playing a villain—and how one powerful scene made him break down in tears behind the scenes.

On the May 1st episode of KBS 2TV’s variety show Problem Child in House, Lee Jun Young appeared alongside co-star Jung Eun Ji to promote their new KBS drama Pump Up the Healthy Love.

During the show, Lee Jun Young was asked about the most unforgettable villain he’s played. He chose his role as Han Su Gang in the film Brave Citizen.

He explained, “It was really tough to film. I had to act like I was leading school violence, and there was even a scene where I bullied a grandmother.”

The hosts were surprised, pointing out how kind and gentle he seems in real life. Lee Jun Young shared how he transforms for such roles.

“I try to act as bad as I can, but sometimes the director says, ‘You still look too nice.’ Then I focus even harder and adjust right away.”

He also revealed that filming one particular scene hit him hard emotionally. “My real grandmother was sick at the time,” he said.

“In one scene, there’s a grandma selling gimbap, and I ad-libbed by stubbing a cigarette out on the gimbap. I was really into character, but after filming, I just broke down. So many thoughts came to me and I started crying.”

Fans praised his dedication to acting but also felt moved by how deeply the role affected him. Lee Jun Young’s honesty gave a raw look at how even fictional roles can hit close to home.
