BTS’s V has opened up about where he feels most like himself, how his definition of success has changed, and the advice he would give his younger self.

In a recent interview with British fashion magazine DAZED, V said performing remains the place where he feels most connected to his true identity.

“I feel most like myself when I’m expressing who I really am on stage,” he shared.

DAZED’s editor, who attended one of V’s performances in London, also praised his presence on stage, describing performing as something that appears natural to him and highlighting the way he moves between vocals and choreography.

V also reflected on how his idea of success has changed since BTS’s early years.

“When I first debuted, I thought appearing on television meant success,” he said. “Now, I think being able to continue doing what I love and being remembered positively by people is also success.”

Rather than focusing only on recognition, V explained that he now places more value on continuing his work and leaving a meaningful impression.

The singer also said he has learned the importance of fully appreciating the present moment.

When asked what he would tell his younger self, V said, “I would tell myself to keep focusing on music. New experiences are important, but always remember why you started this journey and continue being sincere about music.”

V also looked back warmly on memories with his grandmother.

“The time I spent with my grandmother was filled with love and care, and those are memories I still treasure,” he said.

He added that he often feels most confident immediately after finishing a performance. While he may feel satisfied and ready to rest, the excitement from being on stage can make it difficult to fall asleep right away.

The interview offered a more personal look at V beyond his global celebrity image, showing how his connection to music, performing, and the people important to him continues to shape the way he sees success and himself.
