• Jung Jae Hyung Reveals How ‘Hospital Playlist’ Songs Made Him Rich Without Promoting

Singer Jung Jae Hyung revealed his gratitude for the unexpected success he enjoyed thanks to the hit tvN drama "Hospital Playlist."

On January 19, the YouTube channel "Yoh Jung Jae Hyung" featured actress Jeon Mi Do as a special guest. The two talked about her journey in "Hospital Playlist" and the impact it had on their careers.

Jeon Mi Do opened up about her audition process, saying, “They didn’t give us the script in advance. They just told me to look at it comfortably and perform when I felt ready. It was for the very first scene of season one. After my audition, I heard the director paused everything for an hour and said, ‘She feels like Chae Song Hwa. What should we do?’”

She revealed that director Shin Won Ho hesitated about casting her. “He debated if it was right to cast a rookie actress in the role. The four male leads were already famous, so he considered whether I should play Song Hwa or Gyeo Wool. He even asked Jung Kyung Ho, who had seen me perform, for his opinion,” she shared.

Jung Jae Hyung added, “There were probably concerns since you weren’t well-known back then, but the actors speaking up for you must have made a big difference.”

Jeon Mi Do also talked about her first meeting with Yoo Yeon Seok, saying, “He was doing musicals while filming dramas. I met him briefly at an awards show, and during the audition, we crossed paths. He later said, ‘I saw Mi Do leaving and hoped we’d get to work together.’ I think Director Shin, who values teamwork, decided it was okay to cast a rookie.”

The conversation took a humorous turn when Jung Jae Hyung said, “What I’m really thankful for is the royalties! Because of the songs like ‘Introduce Me to a Good Person’ and ‘Gather My Tears,’ I was so grateful. I wasn’t even promoting actively, but the royalties kept coming. Thank you, Jeon Mi Do and Hospital Playlist!”

Jeon Mi Do reflected on the effort it took to prepare for her role: “After filming until midnight, I’d go home and practice songs for recording the next day. It was my first time playing the bass, and it was so challenging. For ‘You, Whom I Met By Chance,’ playing fast as a beginner was tough. But as we practiced and improved, they gave us harder songs!”

She added, “It reminded me of high school when I played in a band. There’s something thrilling about performing together.”

Jung Jae Hyung agreed, saying, “There’s an incredible sense of satisfaction when you play music as a team. Wasn’t the first episode’s rating around 10%?” Jeon Mi Do replied, “I think the ratings grew later. At first, I didn’t know people were worried about me being cast. Some wondered if I could match the level of the other actors or be the female lead.”

She recalled, “Director Shin called me three times during filming and told me, ‘When the first episode airs, there might be negative comments. But don’t let it bother you.’ Thankfully, the reaction was much better than expected, and I was so grateful.”

Jung Jae Hyung closed with a laugh, saying, “Well, I’m grateful too—for all the royalties!”

It’s clear that "Hospital Playlist" left a lasting impression on both Jeon Mi Do and Jung Jae Hyung, proving how powerful a great collaboration can be.

  • Lee Jun Young says he felt guilty and cried after acting mean to a grandma in 'Brave Citizen'

Lee Jun Young recently opened up about the emotional toll of playing a villain—and how one powerful scene made him break down in tears behind the scenes.

On the May 1st episode of KBS 2TV’s variety show Problem Child in House, Lee Jun Young appeared alongside co-star Jung Eun Ji to promote their new KBS drama Pump Up the Healthy Love.

During the show, Lee Jun Young was asked about the most unforgettable villain he’s played. He chose his role as Han Su Gang in the film Brave Citizen.

He explained, “It was really tough to film. I had to act like I was leading school violence, and there was even a scene where I bullied a grandmother.”

The hosts were surprised, pointing out how kind and gentle he seems in real life. Lee Jun Young shared how he transforms for such roles.

“I try to act as bad as I can, but sometimes the director says, ‘You still look too nice.’ Then I focus even harder and adjust right away.”

He also revealed that filming one particular scene hit him hard emotionally. “My real grandmother was sick at the time,” he said.

“In one scene, there’s a grandma selling gimbap, and I ad-libbed by stubbing a cigarette out on the gimbap. I was really into character, but after filming, I just broke down. So many thoughts came to me and I started crying.”
