Actor Yoo Seung Ho has shared his feelings after wrapping up his first theater production, Angels in America – Part One: Millennium Approaches.

On October 8, Yoo Seung Ho sat down with Newsen at a café in Samcheong-dong, Seoul, to discuss his experiences in the play. After 25 years in the entertainment industry, he took on the challenging role and performed on stage for the past two months.

Yoo Seung Ho admitted, “I was really scared going on stage for the first time. The stage was so big, and this play wasn’t easy. I felt nervous, and that made it hard for me to eat. After the second performance, I lost my appetite completely and had to force myself to diet more.”

He shared that he lost a total of 8kg for his role, going from 64kg to 56kg. His character is an AIDS patient who experiences various symptoms, and he felt lucky that his appearance fit the character’s struggles.

Reflecting on his experience, Yoo Seung Ho said, “I didn’t think I could stand for two performances in a row. But after a week, I started to miss the excitement I felt before going on stage after Act 1, Scene 3. I can’t really explain that feeling, but if I get another chance, I’d love to do it again,” he said with a smile.

On the May 1st episode of KBS 2TV’s variety show Problem Child in House, Lee Jun Young appeared alongside co-star Jung Eun Ji to promote their new KBS drama Pump Up the Healthy Love.

During the show, Lee Jun Young was asked about the most unforgettable villain he’s played. He chose his role as Han Su Gang in the film Brave Citizen.

He explained, “It was really tough to film. I had to act like I was leading school violence, and there was even a scene where I bullied a grandmother.”

The hosts were surprised, pointing out how kind and gentle he seems in real life. Lee Jun Young shared how he transforms for such roles.

“I try to act as bad as I can, but sometimes the director says, ‘You still look too nice.’ Then I focus even harder and adjust right away.”

He also revealed that filming one particular scene hit him hard emotionally. “My real grandmother was sick at the time,” he said.

“In one scene, there’s a grandma selling gimbap, and I ad-libbed by stubbing a cigarette out on the gimbap. I was really into character, but after filming, I just broke down. So many thoughts came to me and I started crying.”
