• Red Velvet’s Seulgi Opens Up About Surprise Friendship with BLACKPINK’s Jisoo, “I Thought It Would Be Hard Because of YG vs. SM”

Red Velvet's Seulgi has surprised fans with her close friendship with BLACKPINK’s Jisoo.

On August 16, Seulgi’s YouTube channel ‘Hi Seulgi’ posted a new video titled "Jisoo, Do You Want to Go to the Valley and Eat Samgyetang? Unplanned Guide in Yangpyeong."

In the video, Jisoo shared a funny story about their first meeting. She said, "Our shop used to have Red Velvet, and it was a happy time. I didn’t have many friends then, so I wanted to be friends with them. When I bumped into Seulgi in the restroom at an awards show, I said, 'We’re from the same company, give me your number!'"

Seulgi recalled, "We were in the Gocheok Dome restroom, and Lisa was with us. I was surprised because we’re from SM and you’re from YG, so I thought it would be tough for us to get close. But you were so friendly. After that, we didn’t get many chances to meet outside of award shows."

They also talked about their trainee days. Jisoo mentioned, "I was quite prickly as a trainee. When I first joined YG, I was told, 'I’ve never seen someone like you before,'" to which Seulgi responded, "I realized how different we were and thought, 'Oh, so you can think like that.'"

Jisoo also revealed she once visited SM Entertainment to see Seulgi. She said, "We had lessons together, but the entrance was blocked, so I used Seulgi to sneak in. I was amazed by the natural light in SM’s practice rooms, which was so different from YG’s dark rooms. It felt like we were mice looking down from above."

Seulgi expressed her regret, saying, "I wanted to give you a full SM tour, but it was during the trainee’s monthly evaluation, so I couldn’t."

Meanwhile, Jisoo is set to appear in Coupang Play's new drama Newtopia. She shared that after finishing filming, she initially cried but now feels fine. She said, "I was worried because I filmed for a long time, but no one cried in the end. It wasn’t particularly hard, but wearing winter clothes in July was tough."

Jisoo admitted she usually doesn’t watch genre shows but researched the script for Newtopia. She joked about surviving in a zombie world, saying, "If I had to survive, I’d dive into the zombies and become one quickly. If I survived for a while and then became a zombie, I’d be really angry," which got a laugh from Seulgi.

  • Lee Jun Young says he felt guilty and cried after acting mean to a grandma in 'Brave Citizen'

Lee Jun Young recently opened up about the emotional toll of playing a villain—and how one powerful scene made him break down in tears behind the scenes.

On the May 1st episode of KBS 2TV’s variety show Problem Child in House, Lee Jun Young appeared alongside co-star Jung Eun Ji to promote their new KBS drama Pump Up the Healthy Love.

During the show, Lee Jun Young was asked about the most unforgettable villain he’s played. He chose his role as Han Su Gang in the film Brave Citizen.

He explained, “It was really tough to film. I had to act like I was leading school violence, and there was even a scene where I bullied a grandmother.”

The hosts were surprised, pointing out how kind and gentle he seems in real life. Lee Jun Young shared how he transforms for such roles.

“I try to act as bad as I can, but sometimes the director says, ‘You still look too nice.’ Then I focus even harder and adjust right away.”

He also revealed that filming one particular scene hit him hard emotionally. “My real grandmother was sick at the time,” he said.

“In one scene, there’s a grandma selling gimbap, and I ad-libbed by stubbing a cigarette out on the gimbap. I was really into character, but after filming, I just broke down. So many thoughts came to me and I started crying.”

Fans praised his dedication to acting but also felt moved by how deeply the role affected him. Lee Jun Young’s honesty gave a raw look at how even fictional roles can hit close to home.
