• Actress Lee Yoo Mi Talks About Her Sudden Popularity In 'Squid Game'

Actress Lee Yoo Mi shared her feelings about the popularity of 'Squid Game'.

On November 24th, Cosmopolitan released an interview conducted with Lee Yoo Mi's December pictorial. In the Netflix series 'Squid Game', Lee Yoo-mi showed a strong presence in the role of Ji Yeong No. 240.

She won the Rookie of the Year award at the Buil Film Awards for 'Young Adults', which was released last year. In the meantime, her face gradually began to become known, and she rose to stardom, receiving attention not only in Korea but also around the world with 'Squid Game'. Her Instagram followers also increased by more than 100 times compared to before the release of 'Squid Game'.

At this point with the world's attention, Lee Yoo Mi was not even realizing her popularity. This is because she was working part-time at Coupang Eats while taking a break after filming 'Squid Game'. Coupang Eats is a part-time delivery service that anyone can do.

Yumi Lee said, "During my break, I was working part-time at Coupang Eats, and suddenly I received attention, like 'Bam!' so it's still fascinating to me. Still, I'm trying not to realize the popularity because there's so much I need to do from now I. I try not to forget who I am."

She also talked about the chemistry she showed with Jeong Ho Yeon of 'Squid Game' and Ahn Hee Yeon (Hani) of 'Young Adults'. She shared, "I'm the type of person to approach others first and get close to them. I did that with Hani unnie, and also with Ho Yeon. I think everyone will soon find out that I'm the type of person who has good chemistry with anyone - whether they may be men, women, old or young."

She is expected to return as the strongest villain in the upcoming Netflix zombie drama 'All of Us Are Dead'. Lee Yoo Mi also shared, "I think what's left for me is to get slandered when this drama comes out. The people who saw my acting (in this new drama) say I'm so detestable. There are a lot of things I do (in the drama) that make people think 'People shouldn't act that way.' However, I think those actions are only possible because she's human. So I thought it was intriguing how such irony was depicted."

For this pictorial, Lee Yoo Mi took off Ji Yeong in 'Squid Game' and took a photo shoot with her colorful colors. In the interview, she raised the atmosphere with her unique and witty answers, and she also drew attention with her serious philosophy about acting.

The December 2021 issue of 'Cosmopolitan', which contains Lee Yoo Mi's pictorial and interview, can be purchased at bookstores. Detailed interview details can be found on the Cosmopolitan Korea website.

On the May 1st episode of KBS 2TV’s variety show Problem Child in House, Lee Jun Young appeared alongside co-star Jung Eun Ji to promote their new KBS drama Pump Up the Healthy Love.

During the show, Lee Jun Young was asked about the most unforgettable villain he’s played. He chose his role as Han Su Gang in the film Brave Citizen.

The hosts were surprised, pointing out how kind and gentle he seems in real life. Lee Jun Young shared how he transforms for such roles.

“I try to act as bad as I can, but sometimes the director says, ‘You still look too nice.’ Then I focus even harder and adjust right away.”

He also revealed that filming one particular scene hit him hard emotionally. “My real grandmother was sick at the time,” he said.

“In one scene, there’s a grandma selling gimbap, and I ad-libbed by stubbing a cigarette out on the gimbap. I was really into character, but after filming, I just broke down. So many thoughts came to me and I started crying.”
