Song Kang and Lee Jun Young’s new tvN drama Four Hands, Two Sonatas is already gaining momentum, with ratings rising sharply in its second episode.
According to Nielsen Korea, episode 2, which aired on August 30, recorded an average nationwide rating of 5.9% and peaked at 6.6%. In the Seoul metropolitan area, the episode averaged 6.1% and reached a high of 6.9%.
The drama also ranked No. 1 in its time slot among cable and general programming channels. It additionally took first place among tvN’s key 20–49 demographic in both nationwide and metropolitan ratings.
The early ratings increase comes as the story begins developing the partnership between Kang Bi Oh, played by Song Kang, and Choi Jung Yo, played by Lee Jun Young.
In episode 2, the two classmates were brought together as piano partners after initially struggling to understand each other. Their teacher pairs them for an upcoming school performance, hoping their different strengths can help balance each other.
Their partnership does not begin smoothly, but a series of difficult situations gradually brings them closer. Jung Yo also reveals his fear of performing on stage, leading Bi Oh to help him regain confidence through unconventional practice sessions.
Rather than focusing only on competition, the episode showed the two characters beginning to support each other both personally and musically. Their growing friendship eventually leads to a public performance that marks an important step forward for their partnership.
With Four Hands, Two Sonatas reaching 5.9% nationwide after only two episodes and topping its time slot, attention is now turning to whether the Song Kang and Lee Jun Young-led drama can continue its early ratings growth.
