MBC’s A Bona Fide Killer continued its strong run in the ratings as Gong Hyo Jin and Jung Joon Won’s emotional romance became one of the highlights of the latest episode.
Episode 8, which aired on August 22, recorded an average nationwide rating of 8.8% and 8.1% in the Seoul metropolitan area, according to Nielsen Korea. The drama remained No. 1 across all channels in its time slot.
The episode also reached a peak rating of 9.9% during a tense late-scene encounter involving a mysterious man connected to Yoo Bona, played by Gong Hyo Jin.
Among viewers aged 20 to 54, an important demographic for advertisers, the drama recorded a 3.0% rating and ranked No. 1 among all programs broadcast that day.
The latest episode also gave viewers a closer look at the past relationship between Yoo Bona and Kwon Tae Sung, played by Jung Joon Won.
Eight years earlier, the two unexpectedly found themselves together at a mountain cabin and became stranded because of heavy snow. Although Bona initially tried to keep her distance, the situation slowly brought them closer.
Tae Sung eventually admitted his feelings, telling her that he had already fallen in love.
Bona responded with a smile, “Please take good care of me. It’s my first time being in love.”
The two then shared their first kiss in the snow, giving the episode one of its most romantic moments.
Away from the romance, the episode continued to build tension surrounding the mysterious figure known as Kingfisher. Tae Sung moved closer to uncovering the truth, while new information raised further questions about the case.
With strong ratings, a 9.9% peak, and growing interest in both the romance and mystery, A Bona Fide Killer maintained its position as the most-watched program in its time slot.
