Ok Jin Wook is gaining new attention for his acting transformation in Netflix’s original series “Teach You a Lesson.”

After first becoming known through “Mister Trot” and the trot group Dasutjang, Ok Jin Wook is now being recognized as an actor through his role as Jo In Beom, the top student fighter in the automobile department of Guun Hitech High School.

In a recent interview, Ok Jin Wook shared that he joined “Teach You a Lesson” through an audition. He said, “During the audition, I boxed in front of the camera, and the director said he liked it.” He also revealed that he had trained in boxing during his 1 year and 4 month break and had even earned a professional license.

His long hair also helped shape the character. Ok Jin Wook explained that there was no long haired character in the original work, but the team decided to keep his look. He said, “I wanted to leave my long hair behind somehow, and now I was able to leave it on Netflix.”

For the role, he wore tattoo and scar makeup, which helped him get into character. He shared, “When I dressed up as Jo In Beom, I somehow became more arrogant and rough,” adding that “makeup has power.”

Ok Jin Wook also praised senior actor Kim Mu Yeol, especially after seeing him personally take part in an action driving scene. He recalled being surprised on set and said his reaction in the scene became more realistic because of it. He also said Kim Mu Yeol made an effort to remember the names of many younger actors and talk with them during breaks, making him think, “I want to become a senior like that too.”

The actor also spoke honestly about his past worries. Before “Teach You a Lesson,” he experienced a long break and admitted feeling anxious, saying he worried he might be forgotten before people even remembered him. However, support from people around him helped him continue.

Looking back on his “Mister Trot” days, Ok Jin Wook said he was scared at first because he wanted to act, but his mother encouraged him not to worry before trying. He shared that the experience helped him receive more attention today.

He also revealed that Lee Chan Won recently sent him a message saying, “You finally did it. I am proud of you,” which made him feel encouraged.

Now, Ok Jin Wook says the words he wants to hear most are, “You act well.” He added that he wants to become an actor people trust, saying, “If he appears, I must watch it.”

With “Teach You a Lesson,” Ok Jin Wook has shown a new side of himself, and viewers are now watching to see what kind of actor he will become next.
