Jang Seung Jo shared his final thoughts after the end of SBS’s “My Royal Nemesis”.
In the drama, Jang Seung Jo played Choi Moon Do, a powerful and ambitious figure who stood against the main characters. Through the role, he showed a cold and intense villain performance that kept viewers on edge until the end.
Jang Seung Jo also played An Jong, a character from the past, proving his range through a one person two role performance. He showed both modern ambition and past era power with different tones, adding more tension to the drama.
After the finale, Jang Seung Jo said, “I am deeply thankful and happy that ‘My Royal Nemesis’ received so much love around the world”.
When talking about Choi Moon Do, he explained that the character was someone who hid his true self behind a perfect mask. He said he focused on holding back his emotions in the earlier parts so that the character’s true nature would feel stronger when it finally came out.
He also shared that the main keyword connecting Choi Moon Do and An Jong was “desire.” He said that although the two characters lived in different times and showed themselves in different ways, their inner desire was similar.
Jang Seung Jo honestly admitted that playing a villain can feel lonely. He said, “The time spent standing as an antagonist in a story always feels very lonely”.
However, he added that if viewers can feel relief after seeing a villain fall, that is meaningful for him as an actor.
He also reacted to viewer comments, including people saying, “Please act a little less intensely,” and “I get so nervous every time Choi Moon Do appears.”
Jang Seung Jo said he read the comments on his SNS and felt thankful because it meant viewers were deeply immersed in the character. He shared that the comment he remembered most was, “I really hate Choi Moon Do, but I like actor Jang Seung Jo”.
When asked about working with Lim Ji Yeon, Heo Nam Jun, and the rest of the cast, he said everyone gave him great energy on set.
He shared, “It was a very happy set where we could freely show and respect each other’s acting worlds.” He also said it was a great honor to work with Yoon Joo Sang.
Lastly, when asked what he would say to Choi Moon Do, Jang Seung Jo answered, “Moon Do, let it go. Enough now”.
