SBS’s new Friday Saturday drama “My Royal Nemesis” started with a chaotic and funny first meeting between Lim Ji Yeon and Heo Nam Jun.

The first episode, which aired on May 8, followed Kang Dan Sim, played by Lim Ji Yeon, a famous villainess from the Joseon era.

After dying 300 years ago, her soul suddenly wakes up in 2026 inside the body of unknown actress Shin Seo Ri.

At the same time, the drama introduced Cha Se Gye, played by Heo Nam Jun, a wealthy businessman known for his bad reputation.

He is called names such as a “cruel M&A butcher” and “a monster created by capitalism,” but he also showed a funny side as he secretly reacted to negative comments about himself.

The two characters had an unforgettable first meeting. Se Gye misunderstood Seo Ri as someone trying to fake an accident in front of his car. Seo Ri, still acting with the spirit of a Joseon villainess, slapped him and shouted, “You wicked man! How dare you speak with that filthy mouth!”

Their fight became even more ridiculous when Seo Ri attacked him with palm tree leaves, while Se Gye fought back with flowers. After realizing people were watching, Se Gye tried to stop the scene and said, “We both look bad, so let’s stop,” before muttering, “Is she crazy?”

Later, Seo Ri learned that her old identity was remembered only as a villainess in modern Korea. She then decided to survive in this new world and approached Se Gye again, saying, “From today, I will use you as my spear and shield.”

The episode ended with Seo Ri sensing danger around Se Gye and pulling him away just before a mannequin fell onto his car. Se Gye then instinctively protected her, setting up the start of their tense but exciting hate romance.

Lim Ji Yeon stood out with her first full comedy acting challenge, while Heo Nam Jun showed a new side through his role as a sharp but unexpectedly funny chaebol.

The first episode recorded a peak rating of 5.4% and 4.3% in the Seoul metropolitan area.
