SBS’s Friday Saturday drama No Tail to Tell is facing continued rating struggles, even as the romance between its leads intensifies.

The fantasy romance series starring Kim Hye Yoon and Lomon recorded a nationwide rating of 2.2 percent for episode 8, according to Nielsen Korea. This marks the drama’s lowest rating so far, despite the episode ending with the main couple’s first kiss scene.

The drama previously opened with 3.7 percent, which was already the lowest premiere rating among recent SBS Friday Saturday dramas. Since then, viewership has struggled to rise.

While the show introduced a modern twist on the traditional gumiho legend, blending fantasy with MZ generation themes, some viewers pointed to strong competition in the same time slot.

Others raised concerns about the lengthy world building explanations and visual effects quality.

Drama critic Gong Hee Jung commented, The drama promoted its fresh twist on the gumiho legend, which could interest overseas viewers. However, the storytelling feels somewhat scattered, and the character relationships lack balance.”

Despite the broadcast ratings, the drama has shown better performance online. As of February 9, it ranked No. 4 on Korea’s “Today’s Top 10 Series” list.

According to FlixPatrol, it also entered the Top 10 in 13 countries, including Indonesia and Malaysia, and ranked No. 17 globally among Netflix TV shows.

With only four episodes left before the finale, attention is now focused on whether online popularity can help boost its overall performance.

The drama will also take a short break on February 13 and 14 due to the Lunar New Year holiday schedule.
