As BTS prepares for a full group comeback and upcoming concert tour, a sudden surge in hotel prices in Busan has sparked major controversy.

After BTS revealed that Busan would be one of the Korean stops on their tour, accommodation prices in the city reportedly rose by more than 10 times almost immediately.

Even though the exact concert venue has not yet been announced, hotels and guesthouses in areas expected to be nearby saw sharp price increases.

Online communities quickly filled with complaints, with users sharing examples of rooms that jumped from around 90,000 won to 900,000 won, and some listings even exceeding 1 million won.

Some fans also claimed that accommodations asked them to cancel already confirmed reservations, leading to anger and criticism toward what many see as unfair pricing practices.

The issue grew further after Lee Jae Myung addressed the controversy directly. On the 16th, he shared a related article and stated that “abusive actions that destroy market order and cause great harm to everyone must be rooted out,” adding that “the losses should be far greater than any unfair gains.”

With the president stepping in, public attention is now focused on whether the sharp hotel price hikes tied to BTS’s Busan concerts will be corrected, as fans and citizens continue to call for fair pricing during major events.
