Singer and entertainer Lee Ji Hye has warned fans about what she says are AI-generated advertisements falsely using her image to promote products.
On August 27, Lee Ji Hye addressed the issue again through social media, explaining that she is currently looking into possible legal measures.
She wrote, “I mentioned this before, but it does not appear to be a domestic company, and we are looking for ways to take legal action.”
According to Lee Ji Hye, the advertisements use artificial intelligence to make it appear as though she personally filmed endorsements for certain products.
She explained, “They are using AI to make it look like I am advertising the products, then adding links to sell them. I hope no one suffers any harm from this.”
Lee Ji Hye said she decided to post a public warning after receiving a large number of direct messages reporting similar advertisements.
One example reportedly showed a realistic-looking video of Lee Ji Hye eating dried sweet potatoes. Although the footage appeared natural, she said it was actually created using deepfake technology and was not a genuine advertisement filmed by her.
The issue also drew attention after singer Shinji said she personally ordered a product after seeing what she believed was an advertisement featuring Lee Ji Hye.
Shinji recalled, “I saw Ji Hye unnie introducing a bra and thought it looked good, so I ordered it.”
She later learned from reports about the deepfake issue that Lee Ji Hye had apparently never participated in the advertisement.
Shinji said, “I naturally thought it was a sponsored advertisement because she does content like that. Then I found out it was AI. I was really shocked.”
Lee Ji Hye has also raised concerns about the unauthorized use of family photos. On August 20, she said an old photo of her daughter had been used in a product advertisement without permission.
At the time, she wrote, “I am receiving many reports. You cannot use photos without permission. Please take the photo down immediately. I will consider legal action soon.”
Lee Ji Hye has not publicly identified the operators behind the advertisements, and their origin has not been independently confirmed. For now, she is asking fans to be cautious about advertisements that appear to feature her and to avoid assuming that every video or endorsement using her image is official.
