The ratings growth came as the drama shifted more attention toward the mystery surrounding Yoo Sung Won, played by Yoo Seung Ho.

Team leader Joo Hye Ra, played by Jung Eun Chae, revealed to Jin Yi Soo, played by Ahn Bo Hyun, that she has been investigating a series of past disappearances connected to Sung Won.

Hye Ra told Yi Soo, “I think Yoo Sung Won killed them,” explaining that her suspicions began with disappearances involving two models and a fellow police officer several years earlier.

The statement shocked Yi Soo and set up a larger investigation into Sung Won’s past. However, at this stage of the story, Hye Ra’s belief remains her character’s suspicion rather than a confirmed conclusion.

The episode also offered new clues about Sung Won through his tense relationship with his mother. During one confrontation, he made a disturbing remark, asking, “Mom killed Dad, so who do you think I killed?”

Rather than fully revealing the meaning behind his words, the drama used the scene to deepen questions about his history and his possible connection to several unresolved cases.

Elsewhere, Yi Soo and Hye Ra continued to strengthen their partnership while solving the episode’s main case. Their growing trust also gave Hye Ra an opportunity to explain why she returned to the police station and why the Yoo Sung Won case has remained important to her.

Despite the darker mystery, the drama maintained some of its lighter chemistry. Yi Soo jokingly described himself as Hye Ra’s “cheat key” during investigations and promised to continue helping her however he could.

With episode 8 rising from 6.7% to 7.9% nationwide, reaching a 9.3% peak, and setting another high in the 20 to 49 demographic, Flex X Cop 2 appears to be gaining momentum just as the Yoo Seung Ho mystery moves closer to the center of the story.
