Actor Lee Ju Seung has added another major achievement to his directing career after winning the Grand Prize at the first Korea Short Drama Awards.
Lee Ju Seung announced on August 30 that his short drama The Woman Upstairs Is a Killer was selected as one of 12 finalists from more than 200 submitted works before ultimately receiving the top award.
Sharing the news, he wrote, “Following our win at Director’s Arena, we were selected among 12 finalists from more than 200 works submitted to the first Korea Short Drama Awards, and we were honored to receive the Grand Prize.”
He also thanked the cast and production team who worked on the project.
“I sincerely thank all of the staff and actors who made this work together with me. It is a project I could never have created alone,” Lee Ju Seung said.
He added that the award would motivate him to continue developing his skills as a writer, director, and actor.
Lee Ju Seung received the Grand Prize for The Woman Upstairs Is a Killer during the awards ceremony held on August 29 at the Korean Film Archive in Sangam-dong, Seoul.
The achievement follows another recent directing win for Lee Ju Seung. He previously took first place on the short drama director survival program Director’s Arena, where he worked as the writer, director, and lead actor on his project.
After winning the competition’s 100 million won prize, Lee Ju Seung said he donated the full amount to a facility supporting single-parent families, explaining that he wanted to follow advice from his late grandfather about doing good when fortunate things happen.
Lee Ju Seung’s latest Grand Prize further highlights his growing work behind the camera as he continues balancing acting with writing and directing.
