Lee Hyori’s small act of kindness ends up changing a rescue dog’s life forever

Singer Lee Hyori’s warm heart has once again made a big difference — this time, helping a shelter dog find his forever home.

On August 8, an animal shelter shared the touching news that one of their rescue dogs, Pudding, had been adopted.

The shelter revealed, “Pudding is now living happily with his mom, dad, and Mochi-hyung. As many of you know, last June, during the construction of ventilation facilities sponsored by Lee Hyori, Pudding went on a happy 3-day trip and ended up meeting his new parents.”

They went on to share that the foster family fell in love with Pudding during those three days and decided to adopt him. On the day of the home visit, Pudding wagged his tail and walked right in like he already belonged there. The male adopter even knelt down and thanked Pudding for coming into their lives.

Since Pudding struggles with separation anxiety and is a bit timid, he’s now attending dog kindergarten and getting home training. He also enjoys walks twice a day and has even lost a little weight thanks to a healthier diet. The shelter expressed deep gratitude to the adopters for giving Pudding a loving home.

This heartwarming adoption story was made possible thanks to Lee Hyori’s efforts earlier this year.

Back in May, Lee Hyori posted on her personal account about major construction planned for the Anseong shelter, where her late dog Soonshim once stayed. Because the work required the dogs to be relocated for a few days, she called on her followers to foster them temporarily. “I’ll also be fostering one dog. To all the amazing dog moms who shine even brighter in hard times — let’s do this together,” she encouraged.

Her post quickly gained attention, and soon, enough foster homes were found for all the dogs so the construction could go ahead. It was later revealed that the project — installing ventilators in the dog kennels to improve air quality — was something the shelter had long given up on due to cost, the number of dogs, and lack of volunteers. Lee Hyori not only suggested the project herself but also covered the entire cost.

Thanks to her, the shelter’s environment improved dramatically — and one temporary foster turned into a forever family for Pudding, making the project even more meaningful.

This isn’t the first time Lee Hyori and her husband Lee Sang Soon have helped animals. They recently donated 2 tons of dog food to an animal shelter, followed by another 3 tons after filming an advertisement.

The couple, who married in 2013, lived in Jeju for 11 years before moving to Seoul last year, where they continue to quietly carry out acts of kindness — including a recent donation of 200 million won to support young adults preparing for independence.
