Virtual idol group PLAVE is already making waves in Japan — and they’re doing it in a big way!
On July 9, Japan’s Oricon announced that PLAVE’s first Japanese single album “Kakurenbo (かくれんぼ)” took the #1 spot on the Daily Single Ranking (dated July 8), selling an impressive 191,000+ copies on its release day alone.
This marks a powerful Japanese debut for PLAVE, who had already shown strong chart performance earlier this year. Back in February, their 3rd Korean mini album “Caligo Pt.1” also ranked #1 on Oricon’s Daily Album Chart — proving that their popularity is growing both in Korea and abroad.
PLAVE officially launched their Japan promotions with the single release on June 16, followed by a successful debut showcase in Tokyo on June 17, where they met local fans for the first time.
Kakurenbo includes a total of three tracks:
- The title track “Kakurenbo (かくれんぼ),” their first original Japanese song
- “RIZZ – Japanese Ver.”
- “Chroma Drift – Japanese Ver.”
To celebrate their debut, PLAVE opened a special pop-up store called “PLAVE JAPAN DEBUT POP-UP in MIYASHITA PARK” from June 24 to 30 in Shibuya, Tokyo, which ended with a great response. They’re currently holding another pop-up store at SHIBUYA109, and it’s also attracting a lot of attention and love from Japanese fans.
With their very first Japanese single already topping the charts, PLAVE is off to an incredible start, proving that virtual idols can compete with the biggest names in the industry.
And the momentum doesn’t stop there — PLAVE is gearing up for their first Asia tour, titled “DASH : Quantum Leap,” to celebrate their 2nd debut anniversary. The tour will kick off with a massive 3-day concert in Seoul at the Olympic Park KSPO DOME from August 15 to 17.
With a growing fanbase and strong music chart performance, PLAVE is quickly becoming a global name — and this is just the beginning.
