Rookie girl group ILLIT is proving their rising power with an explosive comeback!
On June 16, ILLIT (members Yoon Ah, Min Ju, Moka, Won Hee, and Iroha) dropped their 3rd mini album bomb, and fans rushed to support. According to Hanteo Chart, the group sold 326,117 copies on release day alone, taking the No.1 spot on the daily album chart.
With every comeback, ILLIT continues to break their own first-day sales records, showing strong and steady growth. The new album also made waves overseas — it quickly ranked high on iTunes and Apple Music’s Top Albums in Japan, Indonesia, Vietnam, Thailand, and more.
The title track “Borrowed Cat (Do the Dance)” is also climbing digital charts fast. It entered Melon’s Top 100 and appeared on real-time charts for Bugs and Genie right after release. Fans are hooked on the dreamy yet bouncy vibe, and fun lyrics like “doomchit nyaong” and “koongshil nyaong.”
Japan is showing special love for ILLIT. On AWA Music’s real-time rising chart, tracks like “little monster” and “oops!” kept swapping the No.1 spot, while “Borrowed Cat (Do the Dance),” “jellyous,” and “Night Picnic” followed closely — sweeping the top five.
The music video is also drawing tons of buzz. It shows the members confidently stepping into the world of first love, and has already climbed YouTube’s trending charts. Fans are loving it, leaving comments like, “It’s stuck in my head,” “Still feels like ILLIT, but fresh,” and “Their concept and visuals are so addicting.”
One of the biggest highlights is the cute “Cat Stretch Dance,” where the girls mimic cat-like moves with their hands. It’s fun and catchy — and expected to blow up on TikTok and other short-form platforms soon.
Even global media is taking notice. British music magazine NME called the album bomb “a whirlwind of bright and exciting pop,” and said ILLIT has finally found their sound. They especially praised Borrowed Cat (Do the Dance) for its playful post-chorus, saying it feels like “two shy lovers nervously trying to talk.”
ILLIT is also keeping fans engaged with fun events. On June 17, they held a special “Friends Night Picnic” outdoor performance at Yeouido Sebitseom in Seoul, performing their new song live for the first time. From now until June 26, a pop-up store will run in Seongsu at Stage35, featuring bomb-themed photo zones, merch, and physical albums.
With powerful sales, chart success, and a growing global fanbase, ILLIT’s latest era is off to a fiery start.
