SBS’s fantasy drama The Haunted Palace is heating up — both in story and in ratings! The May 3 broadcast of episode 6 delivered big emotions and major twists, leading the show to reach its highest viewership yet.
According to Nielsen Korea, episode 6 recorded an average nationwide rating of 8.8%, with a peak of 10.3%.
In the Seoul metropolitan area, it earned 8.3%, maintaining its No.1 position in its time slot for the third week in a row. Even during the holiday weekend, the show continued to dominate as the top-rated Saturday mini-series.
While trying to defeat an evil spirit, Yook Sung Jae’s character, Kang Chul Yi, finally began to understand the true depth of his feelings for Yeori, played by WJSN’s Bona.
His growing emotions added a romantic twist to the already intense supernatural storyline, touching viewers and adding more layers to the character.
Although Chul Yi is an Imugi — a mythical serpent — pretending to be human, he couldn’t deny his heart when he realized he wanted to protect Yeori, not consume her like his brother Bibi wanted.
His heartfelt realization, delivered through emotional lines, made fans swoon and laugh, especially when he awkwardly questioned what love felt like.
Even as romance bloomed, The Haunted Palace didn’t hold back on thrills. A dark new vengeful spirit threatened the Queen’s unborn child, and terrifying secrets hidden in the palace were slowly uncovered.
The episode ended with a jaw-dropping moment that left Yeori in danger and Chul Yi in despair — a scene that had viewers glued to their screens.
With its mix of romance, fantasy, and mystery, The Haunted Palace is not only keeping audiences entertained but also climbing higher in ratings each week.
Fans are now more eager than ever to see what happens next between Chul Yi and Yeori — and whether love can survive the haunting.
