Former JTBC announcer Kang Ji Young recently opened up about an emotional interview she had with actress Lim Ji Yeon, sharing how deeply she could relate to the actress's struggles.
On May 2, a behind-the-scenes video was released by Netflix Korea featuring Kang Ji Young and model Choi Hyun Joon as they shared stories from their experiences on the upcoming Netflix series The Devil's Plan: Death Room, which will be available to stream starting May 6.
During the show, Kang Ji Young recalled a memorable interview she conducted for JTBC’s Newsroom program, where she personally reached out to arrange the conversation.
She said, “I thought if many others could do it, I’d try too. I called, and they answered. They had just landed at the airport, so I arranged a video call, telling them it would be used for Newsroom, and they agreed.”

However, Kang Ji Young revealed that the most nerve-wracking interview she ever had was with Lim Ji Yeon, who is best known for her role in the popular Netflix series The Glory.
She said, “There’s a line in The Glory where Lim Ji Yeon’s character says, ‘I watch the Newsroom.’ I was nervous because such a big star was sitting right in front of me, and I felt the pressure to perform well.”
Kang Ji Young shared that she put in extra effort to research and prepare for the interview, but what really struck her was how much she could relate to Lim Ji Yeon’s life journey.
“We’re about the same age, and I really connected with the path she had walked. As I was preparing for the interview, I felt a deep sense of empathy and emotion,” she explained.

One moment that stood out to her was when Lim Ji Yeon spoke about her struggles, saying, “I was so desperate.” Kang Ji Young revealed, “It hit me hard because it took me a long time to become an anchor."
She added, "When I became one after 12 years, I felt that same desperation. It made me realize that we all have such desperate hearts in our pursuits, and that made the moment so emotional for me.”
In addition to her announcement, Kang Ji Young will also be appearing in The Devil's Plan 2, which will be released on Netflix starting May 6.
The show will feature intense battles and psychological challenges, with episodes 1-4 releasing in the first week, followed by episodes 5-9 in week two, and episodes 10-12 in the third week.
