• Girls' Generation's Sooyoung: "Tiffany Cried Listening to My Solo Song. It Reminded Her of When She Was 12"

Girls' Generation's Sooyoung and Hyoyeon had an emotional chat about their growth and experiences on a recent episode of Hyoyeon's Level Up.

On September 11, the YouTube channel released a new video titled "The Tears of Girls' Generation We Loved Back Then." In the video, Sooyoung joined Hyoyeon to reflect on their past and discuss their journey.

Hyoyeon reminisced about their trainee days, saying, "Sooyoung always felt like an older sister to me. The older trainees would even call her 'Jeon Ji-hyun'." Sooyoung added, "Hyoyeon was like a celebrity even from afar. She was known for her dance skills, and I always admired her."

The duo also talked about their past experiences with other members, including Yuri. Hyoyeon recalled, "We tried to form a group with Yuri and Sooyoung, but it didn’t work out." Sooyoung humorously reflected, "If we had more time, we might have made it work, like Destiny’s Child or TLC."

When discussing who was the main dancer, Hyoyeon said, "Sooyoung dances with a professional feel, but Yuri has a natural flair. Yuri practices harder, but Sooyoung quickly picks up the moves." Sooyoung admitted she thought she would debut as part of a trio and felt a bit disappointed when it didn’t happen. She said, "I thought I was going to be the center."

Hyoyeon shared that she felt she might debut as a solo artist due to her external lessons. Sooyoung said, "I always thought I’d be the next BoA, but things didn’t turn out as I expected. It was challenging, but I focused on building the team."

Sooyoung talked about her solo album, saying, "I thought I was late to debut as a solo artist, but I’m really excited. It’s been a long time coming, and I enjoyed every moment of creating it."

Hyoyeon expressed her excitement and nervousness about Sooyoung’s solo work, comparing it to artists like Namie Amuro and BoA. Sooyoung agreed, "Hyoyeon and Taeyeon set such high standards, and it’s tough to meet them."

Sooyoung also shared her admiration for NewJeans, saying, "They’re so talented and cute. I even watch their fan cams. I think, ‘If only Hyein were my child,’" showing her deep respect for the group.

She revealed that Tiffany cried when she listened to Sooyoung’s solo song. "Tiffany called me after listening to it and cried. She said it reminded her of when she was 12," Sooyoung recalled. "I cried too when Tiffany had her first concert in LA. We shared each other’s growth."

Hyoyeon was moved by Sooyoung’s story, showing tears as well. Sooyoung joked, "People might find it funny that we’re so emotional." She added, "I worked hard on my vocal lessons, and it made me appreciate the struggles of Taeyeon, Tiffany, and Seohyun."

Sooyoung praised Hyoyeon’s success as a DJ, saying, "I thought DJing was an extension of my training, but Hyoyeon really made it her own. I was impressed by her dedication and success. It makes me proud to see her shine."

Both Sooyoung and Hyoyeon reflected on their journeys and expressed admiration for each other’s achievements, showing their deep bond and respect for one another.

  • Lee Jun Young says he felt guilty and cried after acting mean to a grandma in 'Brave Citizen'

Lee Jun Young recently opened up about the emotional toll of playing a villain—and how one powerful scene made him break down in tears behind the scenes.

On the May 1st episode of KBS 2TV’s variety show Problem Child in House, Lee Jun Young appeared alongside co-star Jung Eun Ji to promote their new KBS drama Pump Up the Healthy Love.

During the show, Lee Jun Young was asked about the most unforgettable villain he’s played. He chose his role as Han Su Gang in the film Brave Citizen.

He explained, “It was really tough to film. I had to act like I was leading school violence, and there was even a scene where I bullied a grandmother.”

The hosts were surprised, pointing out how kind and gentle he seems in real life. Lee Jun Young shared how he transforms for such roles.

“I try to act as bad as I can, but sometimes the director says, ‘You still look too nice.’ Then I focus even harder and adjust right away.”

He also revealed that filming one particular scene hit him hard emotionally. “My real grandmother was sick at the time,” he said.

“In one scene, there’s a grandma selling gimbap, and I ad-libbed by stubbing a cigarette out on the gimbap. I was really into character, but after filming, I just broke down. So many thoughts came to me and I started crying.”

Fans praised his dedication to acting but also felt moved by how deeply the role affected him. Lee Jun Young’s honesty gave a raw look at how even fictional roles can hit close to home.
