• Krystal Jung and Jang Dong Yoon to Host 28th BIFAN Opening Ceremony

    Actors Krystal Jung and Jang Dong Yoon have been selected as hosts for the opening ceremony of the 28th Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival (BIFAN).

    The ceremony, set to take place on July 4th at Bucheon Art Center, will be kicked off by Krystal Jung and Jang Dong Yoon. Known for their on-screen chemistry in the drama 'Search' (2020), they are anticipated to bring their dynamic presence to the festival as hosts, delighting both the audience and filmmakers in attendance.

    Krystal Jung made her debut in 2010 through the sitcom 'More Charming by the Day', and has since garnered acclaim for her roles in dramas like 'High Kick! Revenge of the Short Legged' (2011), 'The Heirs' (2013), 'Prison Playbook' (2017), and films such as 'Spider's Web' (2023), which was featured at the Cannes Film Festival.

    Jang Dong Yoon entered the industry in 2016 with the web drama 'Game Development Girls', and has since expanded his repertoire through dramas like 'The Tale of Nokdu' (2019) and 'Flowers Bloom on the Sand' (2023), as well as films including 'Run Boy Run' (2020) and 'Long-D' (2023). He also ventured into directing with 'Be My Ears' (2023), showcased at the previous BIFAN.

    The 28th BIFAN, scheduled from July 4th to 14th at various locations in Bucheon, marks a significant milestone with its opening ceremony at Bucheon Art Center. This year, the festival promises a diverse selection of global films, including AI-driven productions, highlighting Bucheon as a leader in cutting-edge cinema.

  • Lee Jun Young says he felt guilty and cried after acting mean to a grandma in 'Brave Citizen'

    Lee Jun Young recently opened up about the emotional toll of playing a villain—and how one powerful scene made him break down in tears behind the scenes.

    On the May 1st episode of KBS 2TV’s variety show Problem Child in House, Lee Jun Young appeared alongside co-star Jung Eun Ji to promote their new KBS drama Pump Up the Healthy Love.

    During the show, Lee Jun Young was asked about the most unforgettable villain he’s played. He chose his role as Han Su Gang in the film Brave Citizen.

    He explained, “It was really tough to film. I had to act like I was leading school violence, and there was even a scene where I bullied a grandmother.”

    The hosts were surprised, pointing out how kind and gentle he seems in real life. Lee Jun Young shared how he transforms for such roles.

    “I try to act as bad as I can, but sometimes the director says, ‘You still look too nice.’ Then I focus even harder and adjust right away.”

    He also revealed that filming one particular scene hit him hard emotionally. “My real grandmother was sick at the time,” he said.

    “In one scene, there’s a grandma selling gimbap, and I ad-libbed by stubbing a cigarette out on the gimbap. I was really into character, but after filming, I just broke down. So many thoughts came to me and I started crying.”

    Fans praised his dedication to acting but also felt moved by how deeply the role affected him. Lee Jun Young’s honesty gave a raw look at how even fictional roles can hit close to home.
