Actor Song Kang shared new details about his friendship with BTS’s V, revealing that the two became close while serving in the military.
During the August 25 episode of TEO’s web variety show Salon Drip, Song Kang was asked about a four-cut photo he had taken with V during their service.
Song Kang explained that they were assigned to the same military corps but had different roles.
“We became close in the military. We were in the same corps, but our roles were different. V was in the SDT military police special unit, while I was a regular soldier,” he said.
According to Song Kang, they first connected through a mutual acquaintance and later arranged to meet whenever their weekday leave schedules matched.
“We would meet, eat together, and often go to PC cafés,” he recalled.
Their friendship also extended to their fellow soldiers. Song Kang said five members from V’s unit and five from his own unit once gathered for team games, turning their time off into a friendly 5-on-5 competition.
When asked how they addressed each other in the military, Song Kang explained that because they served in different units, they generally used polite forms of address.
The actor also shared a lighthearted detail about who usually paid for meals.
“He would pay,” Song Kang said with a laugh, adding that he also treated V on several occasions after losing games or bowling matches.
Their friendship has continued beyond their military service. The two have previously been seen exercising and spending time together, while V also publicly shared a photo with Song Kang around the time of his discharge and left him an encouraging message.
Song Kang’s latest comments gave fans a clearer look at how his friendship with V developed naturally through shared military experiences and continued after their service.
