Yoo Yeon Seok looked back on the success of SBS drama Phantom Lawyer after the series reached a personal best rating of 10%.
During the August 25 episode of SBS variety show Whenever Possible, Yoo Yeon Seok appeared with Yoo Jae Suk, Cha Tae Hyun, and Jin Ki Joo when the conversation turned to acting awards and his recent drama.
Cha Tae Hyun first praised Yoo Yeon Seok’s performance, saying, “Our Yeon Seok did ‘Phantom Lawyer’ this year. He did really well, and I really enjoyed watching it.”
However, he quickly turned the compliment into a joke by mentioning the strong competition at SBS this year. Cha Tae Hyun teased, “But because of ‘Agent Kim Reactivated,’ you can’t win this year.”
Yoo Yeon Seok responded modestly, saying, “I wasn’t even thinking about the grand prize.”
Yoo Jae Suk then pointed out that Phantom Lawyer had performed well, prompting Yoo Yeon Seok to reveal that he had already received recognition from SBS.
He said, “I received an award at an internal SBS ceremony.”
Cha Tae Hyun continued joking that the award could be considered a special first-half honor, leading to more playful exchanges among the cast.
Despite the lighthearted conversation, Phantom Lawyer delivered strong results during its run. The SBS drama reached a peak nationwide rating of 10%, giving Yoo Yeon Seok another successful television project and bringing renewed attention to his performance.
Yoo Yeon Seok also shared that he recently finished teaching acting classes at Sejong University, saying that working with students reminded him of his own days studying acting.
With Phantom Lawyer reaching double-digit ratings and Yoo Yeon Seok receiving recognition for his work, the actor’s recent drama success became a playful but notable topic during his appearance on Whenever Possible.
