• “Not Living Up to Expectations”— Park Seo Joon x Han So Hee's Collaboration 'Gyeongseong Creature' Sparks Negative Feedback

The much-anticipated period horror "Gyeongseong Creature" on Netflix is getting terrible reviews from both critics and internet users.

The press got to see six parts of "Gyeongseong Creature" on December 21, one day before it aired around the world.

95% of the reviews from big K-media outlets afterward were bad.

One news source said that one of the main characters, the "creature," "lost direction," and that the leads of the story, Park Seo Joon and Han So Hee, didn't have good chemistry with each other.

"Watching part one did not make me curious about part two," said someone else.

Many drama fans who had been looking forward to the new show voiced similar disappointment after it premiered on Netflix.

Some people thought that setting the story in Gyeongseong in 1945 was "meaningless" to the story.

Some people were upset with actor Park Seo Joon and said that his playing didn't fit with the historical setting.

A huge budget of about 70 billion KRW (~54 million USD) was also attacked for "gobbling up" the money.

People in an online group said:

What a mess it was because they tried to fit way too much into one piece.

It's surprisingly dull for a movie set in that time period.

"The set design was so half-done…"Park Seo Joon TT was the main issue.

With all of his experience, how could an actor spend so little time getting ready for a part TTTT?

He didn't fit in at all with the scene because his Japanese was so bad…"

"I thought I was watching 'What's Wrong With Secretary Kim?' but set in 1945."

"It's not good as a monster thriller or a story about the independence movement in the past."

    It's not centered at all.
"To be honest, it's not very interesting."

The ending of Part 2 doesn't bother me much.
"Where did they spend all that money if they put so little effort into the set design?"
"Everyone in the secondary roles is so great.

The two stars are too different from them…" "Park Seo Joon's character seemed like they couldn't be serious no matter how dangerous things got."

As the shows go on, it gets stranger.
"Is Park Seo Joon having a bad day or something?" He is acting worse than ever before.

'Gyeongseong Creature' Part 2 will come out on January 5.

  • Lee Jun Young says he felt guilty and cried after acting mean to a grandma in 'Brave Citizen'

Lee Jun Young recently opened up about the emotional toll of playing a villain—and how one powerful scene made him break down in tears behind the scenes.

On the May 1st episode of KBS 2TV’s variety show Problem Child in House, Lee Jun Young appeared alongside co-star Jung Eun Ji to promote their new KBS drama Pump Up the Healthy Love.

During the show, Lee Jun Young was asked about the most unforgettable villain he’s played. He chose his role as Han Su Gang in the film Brave Citizen.

He explained, “It was really tough to film. I had to act like I was leading school violence, and there was even a scene where I bullied a grandmother.”

The hosts were surprised, pointing out how kind and gentle he seems in real life. Lee Jun Young shared how he transforms for such roles.

“I try to act as bad as I can, but sometimes the director says, ‘You still look too nice.’ Then I focus even harder and adjust right away.”

He also revealed that filming one particular scene hit him hard emotionally. “My real grandmother was sick at the time,” he said.

“In one scene, there’s a grandma selling gimbap, and I ad-libbed by stubbing a cigarette out on the gimbap. I was really into character, but after filming, I just broke down. So many thoughts came to me and I started crying.”

Fans praised his dedication to acting but also felt moved by how deeply the role affected him. Lee Jun Young’s honesty gave a raw look at how even fictional roles can hit close to home.
