Byeon Woo Seok has emerged as one of the strongest performers in the first round of fan voting for the 17th Korea Drama Awards, ranking No. 1 across four categories.
According to the Korea Drama Festival Organizing Committee, the first round of popularity voting was held from August 3 to 24. Byeon Woo Seok finished in first place for Male Hot Star, Global Star, Popular Couple, and OST.
In the Male Hot Star category, Byeon Woo Seok ranked No. 1, followed by Park Ji Hoon at No. 2.
Byeon Woo Seok also took the top spot in the Global Star category, while Cha Eun Woo ranked second.
For Popular Couple, Byeon Woo Seok and IU placed No. 1, ahead of Lomon and Kim Hye Yoon in second place.
Byeon Woo Seok’s Parallel Lines also ranked first in the OST category, while Jang Min Ho’s Just One, Just One came in second.
Other notable first-round results included IU taking No. 1 in the Female Hot Star category, with Kim Hye Yoon at No. 2. Park Ji Hoon led the Rising Star category, followed closely by Park Seo Ham and Hwang In Youp.
The results are not yet the final winners. A second round of voting began on August 27 and will continue through September 21.
For the popularity categories, the first-round results will account for 40% of the final score, while the second round will make up the remaining 60%.
The second round also introduces fan voting for major categories including Best New Actor and Actress, Excellence Awards, Top Excellence Awards, and Best Drama. Fan votes will account for 10% of the final evaluation in those main award categories.
A representative of the organizing committee said, “Starting from the second round, fans will also be able to participate in voting for major awards including the Rookie, Excellence, Top Excellence, and Best Drama categories.”
The 17th Korea Drama Awards is scheduled to take place on October 10 at the Grand Performance Hall of the Gyeongnam Culture and Arts Center.
