Yoo Seung Ho is drawing attention with a surprising new character in SBS drama Flex X Cop 2, showing a much colder side that contrasts with his gentle appearance.
In the series, Yoo Seung Ho plays Yoo Sung Won, the youngest son of a wealthy media family and a globally known sculptor. He is also a third-generation chaebol who has been close friends with Jin Yi Soo, played by Ahn Bo Hyun, since childhood.
However, Yoo Sung Won is more complicated than he first appears. He is also someone veteran team leader Joo Hye Ra, played by Jung Eun Chae, has been suspicious of and investigating for a long time.
Newly released stills highlight the character’s contrasting sides. At an exhibition following his return to Korea, Yoo Sung Won smiles brightly while receiving flowers, giving off a warm and harmless impression.
Other images show a completely different mood, with Yoo Sung Won staring sharply at someone and later appearing deep in thought while holding a glass of wine. The sudden shift between friendly and unsettling expressions adds more mystery to his character.
The drama had already teased Yoo Sung Won’s unusual personality through a brief earlier scene. When he reunited with longtime butler Hwang Jong Soo, played by Kim Jae Rok, he casually said with a cheerful expression, “Mr. Hwang, you’ve gotten old. Did you clean?”
The blunt and disrespectful comment stood out because of how casually Yoo Sung Won delivered it, creating a sharp contrast with his innocent-looking appearance.
Yoo Seung Ho’s performance is expected to move between playful innocence and a darker, colder side as the mystery surrounding Yoo Sung Won develops.
Flex X Cop 2 follows wealthy detective Jin Yi Soo and new team leader Joo Hye Ra as they work together on investigations, with Jin Yi Soo often using his money and influence when conventional methods are not enough.
Yoo Seung Ho’s expanded role will be shown in Episode 7, airing August 28 at 9:50 PM KST.
The drama also marks Yoo Seung Ho’s return to television dramas about three years after the 2023 series The Deal, with his new antagonist role drawing attention for its major change from many of his previous characters.
