Shin Min Ah is set to star in a new romance drama alongside Lee Jin Wook and Teo Yoo, with a story about a woman who reunites with her first love after 12 years while already married to another man.
On November 5, MBC officially confirmed that Shin Min Ah, Lee Jin Wook, and Teo Yoo will lead its upcoming Friday-Saturday drama Sumokgeum (수목금), scheduled to air in the first half of 2027.
The 12-episode series is described as a mature romance about love, forgiveness, and personal growth, set around a restaurant where two former lovers unexpectedly cross paths again.
Shin Min Ah will play Cha Eun Soo, a woman who returns to her first love 12 years after their separation while hiding her true intentions.
After their breakup, Eun Soo built a life as another man's wife. However, she continues to struggle with questions about what she truly wants from her life.
Lee Jin Wook will portray Kim Dong Woo, a chef who runs a restaurant called Sumokgeum, which opens only three days a week.
Still carrying memories of his first love, Dong Woo has settled into a quiet and simple routine. His life begins to change when Cha Eun Soo unexpectedly appears at his restaurant after 12 years.
Meanwhile, Teo Yoo will take on the role of Lee Won Pil, Cha Eun Soo's husband and an executive director at Hangu Construction.
Although Won Pil is successful and wealthy, he struggles to understand love and express his feelings in a healthy way. His complicated personality is expected to add tension to the relationship between the three characters.
The upcoming drama will bring together director Jung Dong Yoon, known for Gyeongseong Creature and Hot Stove League, and writer Joo Hyun, who worked on The World of the Married and Ms. Temper & Nam Jung Gi.
Writer Kang Eun Kyung, known for the Dr. Romantic series and Bread, Love and Dreams, will also participate as a creator.
The casting announcement comes as Shin Min Ah continues to attract attention for her role in the Disney+ fantasy romance The Remarried Empress, where she stars alongside Ju Ji Hoon and Lee Jong Suk.
With Shin Min Ah, Lee Jin Wook, and Teo Yoo officially confirmed as the leads, Sumokgeum is already drawing interest for its emotional romance centered on a married woman coming face-to-face with her first love after more than a decade.
The drama is scheduled to premiere on MBC in the first half of 2027.
