TWICE member Tzuyu's mother has personally addressed recent dating rumors involving her daughter and a male acquaintance, explaining that the two have been longtime friends and asking people not to make assumptions based on limited information.
On October 27, Taiwanese media outlet NOWnews reported that speculation about Tzuyu's relationship with a male friend had been spreading online, prompting her mother to share a statement on social media.
In her message, Tzuyu's mother explained that she also knows the man personally and wanted to clarify their relationship.
"Recently, there have been rumors online about Tzuyu and a male acquaintance. I have also known this friend for a long time, so I would like to say a few words," she wrote.
She emphasized that the man has maintained a good friendship with Tzuyu and has continued to support her over the years.
"He and Tzuyu have always been good friends. He is a kind and sincere person who has consistently supported and helped Tzuyu," she explained.
Tzuyu's mother also stressed that ordinary activities between friends should not automatically lead to dating speculation.
"It is completely natural for friends to eat together, go out, talk, and look after one another. People should not read too much into a few photos or pieces of information and make careless assumptions," she stated.
She went on to express concern about the possibility of people facing criticism because of unverified rumors.
"Please do not blame or attack anyone because of unconfirmed rumors," she urged.
The mother also asked fans and the public to respect Tzuyu's personal life and focus more on her work as an artist.
"I hope everyone will pay more attention to Tzuyu's music and activities and give Tzuyu and the friends around her more respect and personal space," she continued.
She concluded by expressing her hope that the unnecessary speculation would come to an end.
This is not the first time Tzuyu has been the subject of dating rumors.
In April, she was linked to Taiwanese actor Greg Hsu, also known as Hsu Kuang Han. However, the actor dismissed the speculation during an interview, explaining that they were simply acquaintances who greeted each other.
As for the latest rumors, Tzuyu's mother has made her position clear, describing the man involved as a longtime friend and discouraging further assumptions about their relationship.
