Actor Jo In Sung has achieved a rare milestone at the 47th Blue Dragon Film Awards, earning nominations for both Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor in the same year for two different films.
On October 28, the Blue Dragon Film Awards announced its final nominees across 15 categories, placing Jo In Sung among the standout names in this year's competition.
The actor received a Best Actor nomination for his performance in HOPE, directed by Na Hong Jin, while his role in Possible Love earned him a Best Supporting Actor nomination.
Being recognized in both leading and supporting acting categories in the same year is an unusual achievement, highlighting Jo In Sung's ability to take on different roles across multiple projects.
His double nomination also comes as HOPE leads this year's Blue Dragon Film Awards with nominations in 10 categories, the highest among all competing films.
The film is nominated for Best Picture and Best Director, while Jo In Sung is competing for Best Actor. Fellow cast members Eum Moon Suk and Jung Ho Yeon also received nominations for Best Supporting Actor and Best New Actress, respectively.
In addition, HOPE earned nominations in several technical categories, including cinematography and lighting, music, art direction, editing, and technical achievement.
Meanwhile, Possible Love received eight nominations, including recognition in all four leading and supporting acting categories.
Alongside Jo In Sung's Best Supporting Actor nomination, Sol Kyung Gu is nominated for Best Actor, Jeon Do Yeon for Best Actress, and Cho Yeo Jeong for Best Supporting Actress.
Jo In Sung is not the only actor competing in both leading and supporting categories this year.
Koo Kyo Hwan also earned two nominations, receiving a Best Actor nod for If We and a Best Supporting Actor nomination for The Colony.
Other films with multiple nominations include The Man Who Lives with the King with seven, The Colony with six, and The World of Love and The Assassin(s) with five each.
With Jo In Sung competing in two major acting categories, attention is now turning to whether he can win both awards at the same ceremony.
The 47th Blue Dragon Film Awards will take place on November 25 at KBS Hall in Yeouido, Seoul.
