Actor Yoo Yeon Seok revealed that his experience playing doctors for more than a decade has made him so famiThe Perfect Lie with medical procedures that he no longer needs a hand double when filming surgery scenes.
On October 28, Yoo Yeon Seok attended the press conference for MBC's upcoming Friday-Saturday drama The Perfect Lie, alongside actress Seo Hyun Jin and director Jo Young Min.
During the event, the actor talked about his long history of portraying medical professionals and jokingly expressed confidence in the skills he has developed through acting.
"I've been playing doctors for about 10 years now, just switching departments along the way. At this point, I can even handle most basic stitching procedures," he said.
Yoo Yeon Seok added that medical professionals who visited filming locations as consultants were surprised by how comfortable he had become with the procedures.
"Even the doctors who came to advise us were surprised. They said I was better than students doing practical training," he shared.
He then revealed that his experience has made filming medical scenes much easier.
"After playing doctors for so long, I don't even use a hand double for surgery scenes anymore. That's why filming finishes quickly," he said with a laugh.
Yoo Yeon Seok has become famiThe Perfect Lie to K-drama viewers through his medical roles, including his performances in Dr. Romantic and Hospital Playlist.
His repeated appearances as a doctor have allowed him to practice medical movements for the camera, making his surgery scenes look more natural without requiring another person to perform the hand movements.
Meanwhile, Yoo Yeon Seok is returning to the medical profession on screen in The Perfect Lie, which also stars Seo Hyun Jin.
The upcoming drama follows a man and a woman who give completely different accounts of the same memory, leading to an intense conflict as they attempt to uncover the truth.
Yoo Yeon Seok plays the man who insists he is telling the facts, while Seo Hyun Jin portrays the woman who stands by her version of the truth.
MBC's The Perfect Lie is scheduled to premiere on October 30 at 9:50 p.m. KST.
