Lee Seo Jin and Kim Kwang Kyu are returning as celebrity “secretaries” for Season 2 of SBS’s My Grumpy Secretary, with BIBI confirmed as the first featured guest.
The variety show follows the two actors as they go beyond the role of ordinary managers and provide close, hands-on support for celebrity guests throughout their schedules.
Season 1 performed strongly across television and digital platforms. The program ranked No. 1 in its time slot with its premiere, while its clips and highlight videos reportedly surpassed 170 million cumulative views. It also reached No. 2 overall on Netflix Korea’s daily series ranking and No. 1 among variety programs.
For Season 2, the production team says viewers can expect even more of Lee Seo Jin and Kim Kwang Kyu’s familiar chemistry.
The producer jokingly described the pair as becoming increasingly comfortable with their assistant roles, adding that they sometimes looked like “an old married couple” while working together.
Lee Seo Jin, however, joked that he had no special determination going into the new season.
“I tried my best not to get used to being a secretary this time,” he said. “But somehow, annoyingly, I started getting used to it again.”
Their first major assignment involves accompanying BIBI to Waterbomb. Lee Seo Jin admitted that attending the festival was a completely new experience for him.
“I think people over 50 should be banned from Waterbomb,” he joked. “It was my first time there, and it felt like people were aiming their water guns directly at me. It was definitely a new cultural experience.”
Kim Kwang Kyu was equally surprised by the scale of the event, joking about how much water was being used and describing the experience as unlike anything he had seen before.
The two also discussed celebrities they would like to assist in the future. Kim Kwang Kyu named aespa’s Karina after meeting her at Waterbomb, while Lee Seo Jin said he would like the program to eventually feature overseas celebrities and film outside Korea.
Lee Seo Jin also playfully set a competitive goal for the new season, saying he hopes My Grumpy Secretary can challenge MBC’s I Live Alone in the ratings.
“This year, I want us to beat I Live Alone,” he joked, before saying he would like Kim Kwang Kyu to receive an award if that happened.
Kim Kwang Kyu quickly responded, “I love I Live Alone. Let’s not attack my old home,” drawing laughter.
With BIBI beginning the new season and more celebrity guests expected to follow, My Grumpy Secretary Season 2 will continue focusing on Lee Seo Jin and Kim Kwang Kyu’s relaxed banter and unpredictable experiences while taking care of their stars.
